Signing up
- Go to app.zenorent.com and click Sign in with Google or Sign in with Microsoft. Zeno has no password of its own — the account you sign in with is the account.
- Fill in Organization name and Organization type. The name goes on your invoices, PDFs, and outgoing email. Change it later from Settings → Company.
- Choose a plan. Core is the books and the shared workspace. Core + industry module adds one industry module on top. See Plans & Billing for what sits on each side of that line.
- Pick your industry module, if your plan includes one — Rental, Development, Contractor, Practice, or Glass. This is the module your plan grants, not a preference, so pick the one your business runs on.
- Read the terms of service and privacy policy, tick the box, and click Start my 14-day free trial.
What’s there on day one
- Books with a starter chart of accounts — real income, expense, asset, and liability accounts you can post against, plus an overlay for the industry module you picked. Rename, add, and retire accounts from Books → Chart of Accounts so the categories match how you already think about the business.
- The Inbox, Tasks, Contacts, Chat, and the Document Center.
- The AI Bookkeeper, and every integration — QuickBooks, Manager.io, Quo.
- Your industry module, with its own sidebar and its own records.
Getting your books in
Most new organizations arrive with history somewhere else. Three routes, and you can use more than one:- QuickBooks Online — connect it from Settings → Integrations and Zeno pulls your accounts, customers, vendors, and transactions into its own ledger.
- QuickBooks Desktop — a one-time migration that reads your company file and moves the chart of accounts, contacts, open balances, and history into Zeno so you can close QuickBooks.
- A bank or card feed — connect the account from Settings → Bank Feeds and transactions arrive in the bookkeeping inbox ready to categorize.
The first week
A new organization lands on a Getting started page instead of a module home, and the checklist on it tracks itself against your own data — a step is done when the thing is actually done, not when you click something. Come back to it any time at/getting-started. In the order the work happens:
- Connect your books — QuickBooks Online, a QuickBooks Desktop company file, or a bank.
- Link a bank account — point the connected bank or card at the account it posts to.
- Review your chart of accounts — rename, add, or retire accounts.
- Set up your industry module — add your first property, project, job, shop, or engagement, depending on which one you picked.
- Record your first transaction — categorize something from the bank feed, or enter a bill or an invoice by hand. Reports come alive as soon as anything posts.
- Invite a teammate — from Settings → Users & Permissions. There’s no user cap and no per-seat charge; you choose what each person can reach, module by module.
- Add a card on file — shown only during the trial. Nothing needs it, and adding one means nothing stops on the day the trial ends.
When the trial ends
You get an email three days out, one day out, and on the day the trial lapses. Subscribe any time from Settings → Billing. Subscribing during the trial doesn’t shorten it — billing starts on the day the trial would have ended, so the 14 days you were promised are the 14 days you get. If the trial lapses with no subscription, Zeno goes read-only. Nothing is deleted and nothing is hidden: you can still open every page, run every report, and export your data. What stops is changing anything. Choose a plan from Settings → Billing and the account is writable again immediately.Where to go next
